This knife arrived on time and I was very pleased with it - although it did take me some time and effort sharpening it to bring the sharpness of the blade up to where it belonged (it's now truely razor sharp). It should be mentioned that since the blade is carbon steel, you should put a little oil on the edge after sharpening it to prevent rust from forming, especially in a humid environment. The handle is very comfortable and secure and offers excellent cushioning for batonning. The hilt is a little too big but you could cut the top part down enough to allow for more control in close work. The 5/16 inch thickness (that's over a quarter of an inch, folks) of the blade was a major selling point for me as it provides the weight for chopping and the follow-through for making effective, swift, sweeping slashes (think cutting a large boa's head off as it lunges at you).
