False advertising.....
The top is NOT real walnut (as was specifically told to me in an e-mail from 'Jason' of Lexington Modern), rather a man-made finish and texture over an unknown wood-like material. It is easy to see by looking for the end grain around the edge, of which there are no end grains. So, I must ask, will a glass with a wet bottom set on the table top and not leave a ring? Dunno....not going to push it.
Further the advertisement said the following "This Eero Saarinen Dining table has a lacquered cast aluminum base...". It is made of fiberglass or it is a fiberglass reinforced plastic of some kind. The flexing of the non-aluminum neck can be readily seen at the table top.
Base to table screws were wrong diameter and I had to go to Lowe's to get correct screws. The correct lengths were not available so I bought longer and cut them back. If you have to do this, make sure the screws are short enough so that they will not screw up through...
